AMERICAN REVOLUTION SARATOGA CONVENTION ARMY]. A collection of 17 manuscript documents and 1 autograph letter signed, all pertaining to General Burgoyne's Army surrendered at Saratoga. Under the terms of the surrender, or convention as Burgoyne requested that it be called, the 4,991 prisoners were to march to Boston where they would be returned to England. The agreement was not finalized, however, and the Convention Army was relocated from place to place during the war, from Boston to Charlottesville, Virginia, and Frederick, Maryland.
