An 'A'-mark porcelain coffee-cup Circa 1744-5, incised A to base, collector's mark of U.T. in black ink to base Of flared gadrooned form with ear-shaped scroll handle, painted in polychrome with two European-style flower-sprays each of three large flower heads, foliage and smaller flowers, divided by a brightly-coloured up-side-down butterfly, two ladybirds flanking the handle beneath the rim, on decagonal footrim with remains of gilding (minute rim chip, firing crack where body meets lower terminal of handle) 2 3/8in. (6 cm.) high
