Paramount Pictures, 1946. Designed by Dorothy O'Hara. Smokey gray tailcoat bearing an interior "Western Costume Co." label inscribed, "Alan Ladd," in black ink, "Western Costume Co." interior stamps, and a modern barcode. Though most publicity photographs for this film reveal a bare-chested Ladd, he did manage to wear this jacket as the spoiled rich kid who receives a rude awakening when he is shanghaied on a ship belonging to his father. Ladd received excellent reviews and many consider this portrayal to be on a par with his performance in Shane (1953). Accompanied by a photo of Ladd wearing the jacket in a scene from the film.
