Straight 30 3/4 inch double edged blade with etched band around the edges and 13 inch fuller enclosed by etched florals featuring a Federal eagle with E Pluribus Unum riband below fifteen stars on one side and a panoply of arms with Phrygian cap on the other. Gilt bronze hilt comprising languets molded with spread eagles, button quillon, scrolling knucklebow molded with foliage and fine open beak eaglehead pommel of so-called screaming eagle type. Bone grip carved with checkered, ribbed and shell panels. Brass two-ring scabbard. Condition: Blade showing areas of light pitting, the etched decoration mostly intact. Hilt retains 90-95% gilt finish, the back strap slightly loose. Grip with some chipping below pommel. Scabbard retains traces of gilt finish and shows several deep dents. See Illustration
