An American oak and walnut longcase regulator, circa 1900 The large case with swan neck cresting and turned finials above petal-moulded frieze, the trunk with glazed front and sides and flanked by projecting scrolls, with door to the panelled plinth, the 14in. diameter silvered Roman dial with logo and signed Seth Thomas Clock Co. , with black painted hands and sweep seconds, the substantial eight day movement also with logo and inscribed Apr 15 1886 no. 130 , with slightly tapered plates, deadbeat escapement with jewelled pallets, maintaining power, high count train, wheels with five crossings and screwed to their collets, beat adjustment to the crutch, mercury pendulum with thumbnail cut-glass jar swinging against a silvered beatscale, the movement supported on a cast-iron bracket fixed to the backboard -- 100in. (254cm.) high
