AN AMERICAN SILVER-PLATED SOUP TUREEN, TWO SILVER AND ONE SILVER-PLATED MEDALLION PATTERN VASES The tureen marked Meriden Britannia Co.; the first vase marked Ball, Black & Co., the second marked Gorham for C. Harding & Co., the silver-plated vase unmarked The oval tureen raised on four hoof feet with deer head joins, the body lightly engraved with ferns and foliage, the handles formed as realistically modelled bison heads, the removable domed cover with finial of double headed deer; the first vase globular on circular foot rising to knopped stem, the body with two inset medallions of Classical maidens, the angular handles with mask joins; the Gorham vase trumpet-form applied with medallions with presentation inscription for 1865; the trumpet-form vase on spreading circular foot, applied with two medallions with classical busts. The tureen 14¾in. (37.4cm.) across handles. (4)
