An American sterling silver water pitcher Print Late 19th/early 20th century, New York, NY, with maker's mark for George W. Shiebler & Co., further marked ''J.R. Mercer'', ''54A'' and ''Sterling / 20T'', with a freeform rim over a tapered neck issuing a serpentine handle connecting to the squat body at the widest point, the body chased and repousse-decorated with fruiting grapevines, raised overall on a spreading circular foot, 8'' H x 8.25'' W x 7'' D, 31.920 oz troy approximately, Provenance: Private Collection, Pasadena, CA. Condition: Overall good condition. General light marks, scratches, rubbed wear and tarnishing commensurate with age. Scattered dings and minor pushed-in areas to repousse grapevines; one grape with an approximately .125'' x .125'' hole, two with approximately .125''-long holes and one with a pinhole. A few scattered minor dings; foot with an approximately 2.5''-long section of hammered repair to interior.
