AN ARCHAISTIC CELADON-GLAZED CARVED PEAR-SHAPED VASE, HU KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722) Carved with a central band of highly stylized taotie masks divided into quadrants by vertical straps, below a band of upright blades on the neck which is applied with two black-washed biscuit lion-mask and fixed-ring handles, with a reverse-decorated six-character seal mark in archaistic characters within a double ring 13¼ in. (33.6 cm.) high
