An art deco sapphire and diamond hinged bangle, the front of tapered geometric form, set to the centre with a square pyramid cabochon sapphire within alternating rays of channel set calibré cut sapphires and claw set old round brilliant cut diamonds, the edging and remainder of the circumference of the bangle set all along with similar and round brilliant cut diamonds, in unmarked white precious metal, clasp with safety catch; inner maximum diameter 5.9cm; estimated total weight of diamonds 4.48cts Estimate £5,000-7,000 This is a very high quality piece, all the settings are neat, well-designed, well-crafted and secure; the clasp, hinged safety catch and hinge are all fashioned with skill and as compact as can be imagined - and all in good working order. The sapphires are well-matched and a beautiful evenly saturated colour; some of the calibré cut stones have minor loupe-visible facet edge abrasion, and the cabochon has a couple of small eye-visible pockmarks, but a good polish and vivid blue hue. The diamonds are all bright, vibrant and well-matched - and set all round the bangle. this bracelet is a piece that is a pleasure to handle and examine, is (unusually) easy to put on one-handed - and looks fabulous as worn.
