An early 17th century unascribed provincial maiden-head spoon, the gilt terminal with a lap-joint on a tapering stem, inscribed "R.H.-M.W." on the reverse, stamped once in the bowl with an indistinct mark within a pomegranate shaped outline*, unascribed, probably West Country, first third of the 17th century - 16.5cm long, 1oz. * Literature, See Jackson's Revised p.524, eighth item down on right for an illustration of what appears to the the same mark, as seen on an early 17th century spoon in conjunction with another mark, a quatrefoil within a circular punch.
