Beschreibung:

Two parts bound in one volume, each with separate titlepage although title page for Mississippi is missing. 24,[8],22pp. (12mo) 19.1x10.9 cm (7½x4¼”), paper boards. Bromme was the most extensive writer in German on the United States in the 1830s and '40s, and this is an important work encouraging German emigration to the American South. Although a separate and distinct publication with its own titlepage and pagination, this reprints the portions dealing with Mississippi and Alabama from Bromme's REISEN DURCH DIE VEREINIGTEN STAATEN... (Baltimore, 1837), the source for several Bromme publications intended as handbooks for German emigrants. "Based on actual travels this constituted the most extensive source of information for emigration-minded Europeans" - Howes. OCLC locates seven copies.
