An earthenware jar Meiji period (late 19th century), signed Yabu Meizan Of globular form set on a short circular foot, decorated over the crackled transparent glaze in polychrome enamels and gilt with one panel of children playing games and another panel of a sparrow flying above trailing branches of wisteria, the panels surrounded by a profusion of chrysanthemums; signature on base 2½in. (6.4cm.) high
