AN EGYPTIAN GRANODIORITE TORSO New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, Circa 1550 - 1292 B.C. Possibly a depiction of the goddess Sekhmet, the life-size torso is carved in mottled stone with round breasts, and a slender waist, the lower part of a striated tripartite wig survives, the dorsal column inscribed with hieroglyphs, 50cm high. Provenance: Private collection, Zurich, 1952 (Coninx Museum); with Forge & Lynch, London; with Rupert Wace Ancient Art, London, 2002; Private collection of a lady, Rome, acquired prior to 2004.
