Formed of mottled serpentine, the sphinx is depicted couchant on an integral rectangular base, with a naturalistically carved slender body, the rib cage and the musculature of the haunches defined, the long tails curling up around the right leg, wearing a nemes headdress, the facial features finely carved, 48cm long.
