An elegant Chinese Manchu woman's full length Court gown, Qing Dynasty, circa 1870, woven with a pink and mauve a-brash woven with roundels of five clawed twinned dragons, the borders are cream satin with a small flower motif and wide sleeve bands embroidered with an abundance of butterflies, lined with blue silk and fastened with large gold buttons, collar to hem 132cm high and sleeve to sleeve 129cm wide Provenance: Formerly in a private American collection formed in the 1980's and 1990's These robes were worn by the Manchu courtiers for informal occasions.
