AN EMBROIDERED SILK PRAYER PANEL OR MIHRAB CENTRAL ASIA, LATE 13TH OR 14TH CENTURY The fine ivory silk ground embroidered with diagonal rows of small stylised floral sprays, worked in coloured silk threads with two columns supporting a mihrab arch filled with scrolling vine, the arch formed by a band with repeated stylised polychrome word Allah , the main panel with a pair of stylised feet, the side panels with whirling motifs, in a border of meandering leafy vine, damages to right hand side, stains along central fold lines 52¼ x 34½in. (133 x 88cm.)
