AN EMERALD AND DIAMOND PENDENT NECKLACE
AN EMERALD AND DIAMOND PENDENT NECKLACE The detachable pendent set with a brilliant-cut emerald weighing 12.87 carats, within a pierced pear and circular rose-cut diamond surround, suspending an emerald bead and collet-set rose-cut diamond tassels, joined to the twin-row diamond-set neckchain interspersed with series of emerald beads flanked by diamond beads, mounted in 18k white gold, 76.6 cm Accompanied by report no. 58235 dated 11 January 2011 from the SSEF Swiss Gemmological Institute stating that the 12.87 carat emerald is of Colombia origin, with no indications of clarity modification Also accompanied by a letter from the SSEF Swiss Gemmological Institute stating that the 12.87 carat emerald possesses extraordinary characteristics and merits special mention and appreciation. The gemstone exhibits a well-saturated green colour and outstanding purity, combined with an attractive round shape and cutting style. Microscopic examination revealed inclusions, which represent the hallmarks of Colombian emeralds from the famous mining areas Muzo, Coscuez and Chivor, all located in the green foothills of the Cordillera Oriental in the Colombian Andes. In addition, the fact that this emerald shows no indications of clarity modification is a further sign of rarity. Natural emeralds from Colombia of this size and quality represent a great rarity and the described gemstone is thus a very exceptional treasure
