An Exceptional Cased Pair Of 26-Bore Silver-Mounted Flintlock Pistols With Attachable Shoulder-Stock By Robert Wogdon, London, London silver hallmarks for 1785 With swamped octagonal sighted barrels signed at the breech and with an engraved band of beadwork at the rear, browned finish, silver fore-sights, gold-lined touch-holes, finely engraved case-hardened tangs each incorporating the back-sight, signed case-hardened detented bevelled locks retained by two side-nails and each with safety-catch, roller, blued steel-spring, and stepped tail, figured walnut full stocks (minor bruising), engraved silver trigger-guards with acorn finial, octagonal silver ramrod-pipes, set triggers, and original ramrods, one with worm and brass powder-measure, the butts each with a cavity for the shoulder-stock covered by a silver plate engraved with owner's crest: in lined and fitted mahogany case, almost certainly original (minor damage to lining), with some accessories, the lid (warped, minor damage, one hook missing) with brass carrying handle of Chippendale form, London proof marks, silver maker's mark of Michael Barnett 15½in. (39.3cm.)
