With signed rebrowned scratch rifled lightly swamped twist octagonal sighted barrels engraved with a band of beadwork at the rear of each breech, gold-lined touch-holes, finely engraved tangs, signed detented locks each with moulded border, stepped tail, blued safety-catch also locking the steel, roller bearing on a ramp, blued steel-spring, gold-lined semi-rainproof pan, and original blued finish on the internal working parts, figured walnut full stocks (minor bruises), swelling flat-sided coarsely chequered butts with single lines across the pommels, finely engraved blued iron mounts including trigger-guards with large pineapple finial, silver escutcheons engraved with owner's initials 'JM', blued set triggers, original horn-tipped ramrods, and in fine condition with some original finish: in original lined and fitted mahogany case in the manner of John Twigg, with accessories including three-way flask covered in leather stained in imitation of tortoiseshell, the lid with brass carrying handle of Chippendale form, London proof marks 16 in. (40.7 cm.)
