An exceptional William IV carved mahogany longcase regulator French, Royal Exchange. Circa 1830 The case of architectural design with in-set pedestal plinth centred by a quoined arch flanked by balustrades supporting long reeded columns with carved mahogany Corninthian capitals flanking an arched glazed trunk door, the hood with elaborate foliate carved door bezel flanked by volutes, the circular silvered regulator dial re-signed FRENCH Royal Exchange with blued steel hands, the movement with substantial shouldered brass plates secured by six vase shaped pillars with blued steel screws, brass dust covers to the top and sides, high count fully end-capped train, the anchor and 'scape wheel pivots in jewelled screwed châatons, delicate wheels with six crossings, jewelled Graham-type deadbeat escapement with mercury glass jar pendulum swinging against a silvered beatscale on a foliate carved mahogany bracket, the back plate signed French ROYAL EXCHANGE LONDON , the front plate stamped 10764 6ft. 5in. (195cm.) high
