AN EXCEPTIONALLY FINE AND RARE PAIR OF RUBY-RED GROUND FAMILLE ROSE VASES
QIANLONG IRON-RED SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARKS AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
AN EXCEPTIONALLY FINE AND RARE PAIR OF RUBY-RED GROUND FAMILLE ROSE VASES QIANLONG IRON-RED SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARKS AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795) Each of the baluster bodies is finely decorated with four roundels formed of pairs of descending stylised winged dragons. These are separated by vertical borders comprising bats in flight above florettes and lotus sprays. All these elements are enamelled against a brilliant ruby-red ground between a band of pendant lappets suspending jewels on the shoulder and upright petals above the foot. The tall waisted neck is similarly decorated with halberds attached to be-ribboned chimes and flanked by a pair of multi-coloured ascending kui dragon handles below the everted rim, delicately decorated with C-scrolls in blue above a band of ruyi -heads. The interior and base are enamelled in turquoise. 12 in. (30.5 cm.) high (2)
