An Exhibition Standard Scale Waterline Model Of The British Battleship H.M.S. HOOD Leslie Kirby, British, 20th century A very fine scratch built model displayed in a diorama format. The hull of the model is wood, built up in lifts covered with paper to simulate the hull plating. The decks are also in paper with the deck planking drawn in india ink. The deck structures, including superstructures, bridge, gun turrets and other large details are built up in wood and paper. Other details on the model include: anchor chains, bollards, hand rails, radar direction finder, ships boats, davits, ladders, main, secondary and AA batteries, name boards and numerous other details. The model is displayed in a modeled sea, at anchor, and is displayed in a glass case with a mahogany frame. 62¼ x 14½ x 15½ in. (158.1 x 36.8 x 39.4 cm.), cased dimensions (2)
