An extremely fine exhibition standard partially planked fully rigged 1:48 scale model of the Armed Transport 'Bounty' of circa 1787 built from plans redrawn from Admiralty draughts by W.R. Jewell -- 26½ x 33in. (67.3 x 83.8cm). With bound masts of pine, yards of lemonwood with stun's'l booms, standing and running rigging with scale blocks and left hand wound ropes with correct whippings and deck details including carved and painted female figurehead, hair rails, anchors with bound stocks, catheads with sheaves, windlass, belaying rails and pins, stove pipe, capstan, bilge pumps with trunking, chart locker, ship's wheel, bell, finely cut gratings, carvel planked and framed launch and clinker built cutter both with bottom boards, thwarts and oars and four guns in carriages with tackle and many other details. The hull with scale boxwood frames is planked above the waterline, the deck planking, of holly, reveals deck beams and 'tween decks and lower deck detailing and has finely carved stern and quarter windows. Finished in contrasting woods, matt varnish and blue and mounted on two turned brass columns. Display base and glazed case. (See illustration)
