An extremely finely engineered exhibition standard electrified display model of a Stuart surface condensing vertical reversing eight pillar triple expansion marine engine built by E.M. Thomas. Measurements overall -- 16½ x 16½in.(42 x 42cm) With blued steel clad cylinders 3/4in., 1¼in. and 1¾in. bores x 1in. stroke, drain cocks and pipework, main stop valve and and transfer pipes, studded stuffing boxes with lock nuts, hand wheel, screw and quadrant operated double bar type Stephenson's link reverse, counterbalanced crankshaft with four main bearings with oil pots, disc flywheel, thrust block and three blade propellor. Further details include I.P. crosshead driven feed pump, L.P. crosshead driven air pump, rear mounted surface condensor with bolted end plates and flanged and bolted pipework. Finished in grey and polished brightwork, the display base concealing a 240 v electric drive motor. Perspex cover (See illustration)
