YONGZHENG PERIOD (1723-1735)
AN EXTREMELY RARE FAUX BOIS GRISAILLE -DECORATED 'LANDSCAPE' BRUSHPOT YONGZHENG PERIOD (1723-1735) Finely potted, the cylindircal brushpot is finely enamelled to simulate burlwood on the interior and underside base, reserving an exterior which is painted in sepia enamel to depict a panoramic water-landscape scene. The painting is detailed with two fishermen as if they are engaged in conversation whilst walking toward a boat moored on a nearby embankment. The figures leave behind a lone pavilion located on a distant promontory, raised above an expanse of water on which sails a small boat accommodating a reclined scholar, shaded under an parasol. 7 in.
