AN IMPERIAL INTERPRETATION OF MI FU’S RECORD OF THE PAINTING 'ELEGANT GATHERING IN THE WESTERN GARDEN' QING DYNASTY, QIANLONG PERIOD, DATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH 1752 ink on paper, comprising seven double-pages between hard wood covers of a chestnut-brown tone, the front cover incised in clerical script with the title yubi Xiyuan yaji tuji ('Imperial copy of Mi Fu’s Record of the Painting Elegant Gathering in the Western Garden'), the content written in running script, followed by the signature reading Qianlong renshen yulin Mi shu yu Bishu Shanzhuang (‘copied by the imperial hand of the Qianlong Emperor at the Summer Palace in the renshen year’, corresponding to 1752), impressed with seven seals of the Qianlong Emperor 10.8 by 7.5 cm., 4 1/4 by 2 7/8 in.
