Bontems, circa 1890, the independent 2-train 8-day Vincenti & Cie four-pillar timepiece striking on a bell, the dial with plain white enamel ground, cobalt blue Roman numerals, minute divider band and pierced trefoil Brequet hands, above the singing bird tree, with painted metal naturalistic ten-branch stump, each with leaved decoration, the top bird with predominant feathered plumaged tones of black, white and dark brown, teal green, red, with blue and yellow highlights, the middle bird with bright yellow, orange, black and brown plumage, both with moving wings, pivoting on a rod and jumping from two branches on differing timings, and the last third, a hummingbird, with predominant green tone with red, blue and black iridescent highlights, pivoted to 180 degree movement upon single branch, moving wings, in imposing open cast and tooled ormolu case, the top with three-point floral spray trumpets, crown-and-drape timepiece hood on S scroll sides, geometric leave weave surmount flanked by incised half-turned columns, shaped singing bird hood with egg-and-dart edge and triple floral swags from turned crown finials, the rear with pierced panel of complex rococo taste matrix and central oval floral relief medallion, further half-columns either side behind front classical C scroll supports and smaller intermediate twinned urne sur-le-stand, the serpentine base with Adam-leaf frieze edge, floral spray sweeps, with applied leaf toes, upon moulded ebonised base containing eight-cam bird movement, start/stop pull and key-wing on right-hand side, under the enormous original glass dome - 32in. (81.5cm) high maximum
