AN IMPORTANT AND VERY RARE BLUE AND WHITE BASIN YONGLE PERIOD (1403-1425) Well potted with deep, rounded sides, fluidly painted in the center of the interior with leafy scrolling stems bearing three lingzhi heads, within a double-line border beneath a frieze of undulating lotus scroll in the well and a narrow border of keyfret at the rim, the exterior with detached sprays of lychees, pomegranates, persimmons and loquats, all in finely controlled underglaze blue with darker 'heaping and piling' effect, the base unglazed 10 1/8 in. (25.6 cm.) diam., cloth box
