AN IMPORTANT SINGLE-STONE D/IF DIAMOND RING Set with a marquise-cut diamond weighing 9.37 carats, held between pink diamond terminals, to the crossover pavé-set diamond shoulders and twin hoop, mounted in 18K pink and white gold, size 6 With certificate 11518636 dated 19/4/01 from the Gemological Institute of America stating that the diamond is D colour, internally flawless clarity With certificate 0105061 dated 15/5/01 from the Gübelin Gemmological Laboratory stating that the diamond is D colour, internally flawless clarity, very good polish and very good symmetry, accompanied by an appendix stating that the diamond of 9.37 carats possesses a purity of colour and degree of transparency which are particular to the finest of natural type IIa diamonds. Diamonds of this type and size, exhibting a superior quality, are very rare. Such diamonds have been unearthed from only a limited number of sources around the world (eg. South Africa, Brazil, and India).
