An Impressive French Gold and Mother-of-Pearl Sewing Box, first quarter 19th century, monogram for cornelia patterson van rensselaer, comprising a gold thimble engraved CVR July 8th, 1848, two gold bodkins, a gold vinaigrette, a gold needle case, gold scissors with steel blades, a push-up fountain pen, a mother-of-pearl and gold knife with a steel blade, a mother-of-pearl and gold punch, a mother-of-pearl tambour hook, a glass scent bottle with gold cap, four mother-of-pearl spools, a pair of steel and mother-of-pearl winders, a mother-of-pearl memoire, four mother-of pearl star form winders, a mother-of-pearl tattling shuttle, a pair of mother-of-pearl knitting needle protectors, two pairs of steel scissors and a mother-of-pearl folding ruler, all set in a velvet lined burlwood box set with a gold shield form cartouche monogrammed CVR, gold with maker's mark AB a crowned heart above and pellet below, and with guarantee marks for 1809-19. Height of box 4 1/4 x width 10 5/8 x depth 7 3/8 inches.
