An interesting and extensive collection of medallions, medallets and badges appertaining to Lieutenant-General Sir John Brown K.C.B., C.B.E., D.S.O., T.D. , many of them accumulated during his time as Chairman of the British Legion 1930-34 and British Empire Service League 1946-53 approximately 90 pieces the medallions including City and Guilds of London Institute Technological Examination Prize Medals (2), bronze, both with impressed naming to the recipient, 1900 and 1901; Commonwealth Government of Australia, Jubilee Commemorative Medallion, 1951, silver, the reverse inscribed, 'Lieut.-Gen. Sir John Brown K.C.B., C.B.E., D.S.O., T.D.', in fitted case; Anzac Commemorative Medallion, by Dora Chlfsen , in fitted case with gilt title to lid; National Emergency - General Strike - Commemorative Medallion 1926, bronze, in fitted case; Belgian Commemoratives for the Great War (4), in silver (2), and bronze (2), one of the latter in card box; South Africa, Pilgrimage to the Western Front 1934; and Massachusetts Bay Colony Tercentenary Commemorative 1630-1930, rectangular, bronze. The medallets, many in gilt and enamel, including Federation Internationale Des Ancients Combattants (F.I.D.A.C.) Congress, Washington & New York 1930 (4), one with original inscribed card in upper bronze frame, 'Col. John Brown Chm., British Legion'; American Legion (3), 'Distinguished Guest' issues (2) and a shooting competition award, together with a related award from the Mayor of New York, 1930; Belgian, Hungarian and Serbian issues, and much besides, from the recipient's Northampton Rotary Club Chairman's Medal to Masonic pieces (3). The badges, many in gilt and enamel, of like diversity, including further F.I.D.A.C. pieces and anything from a British Legion Thiepval Pilgrimage 1932, leather roundel, to an S.S. Aguila lapel badge, bronze and enamel - she was torpedoed and sunk in 1941; together with a miniature commemorative spade, Krakow, 1930 generally very fine, unusual and in cases rare; a more comprehensive listing is available on request (Lot) Lieutenant-General Sir John Brown K.C.B., C.B.E., D.S.O., T.D. (1880-1958), who joined the Northamptonshire Regiment 1901, served in the Suvla landings in August 1915 and afterwards in the Palestine campaign; during the Second World War he served as Deputy Adjutant-General at the War Office and as Director-General T.A. and Inspector of Welfare and Education.
