An Italian Renaissance revival carved walnut cabinet-on-stand By Rocco Focá, Circa 1897 The arched pediment carved with two fish, each protruding front angle surmounted by a mythological sea creature, the breakfront-shaped superstructure with a central cupboard door finely-carved with an architectural facade centred by a half-human hippocampus and nereid, above a reclining figure of Neptune, opening to two adjustable shelves, above a drawer carved with beasts and trailing foliage, flanked on each side by similarly-carved angled panels and columnar uprights, the sides with foliate-carved panels, one inscribed R. FOCá , the other side with TORINO , the base with a cupboard door carved in deep relief with a view of the Riviera di Chaia, Naples, with Vesuvius in the distance, the corners with herms, the plinth base carved with reserves depicting floral bouquets, rats, and sea creatures 85 in. (216 cm.) high; 38½ in. (97.8 cm.) wide; 18½ in. (47 cm.) deep
