A.S.C.); Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 4 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901 (6583 Pte. A. J. Ryan, Vol: Coy Suffolk Regt.) unofficial rivets between state and date clasps; 1914-15 Star (S-20332 S. Sjt. - A.S.Q.M. Sjt. - A. J. Ryan. A.S.C.); British War and Victory Medals (S-20332 T. W.O. Cl. 1. A. J. Ryan. Arthur John Ryan was born in January 1883. He served with the Volunteer Company, Suffolk Regiment in South Africa, and during the Great War with Army Service Corps in the Gallipoli theatre of war from 16 June 1915. Ryan advanced to Staff Sergeant Major in June 1922, and to 1st Class S.S.M. in March 1926.
