An unusual early Victorian mahogany domestic medicine chest with drop-down doors, with ivory plaque for FISHER & TOLLER Chemists LONDON , with red velvet lining, the 'front' drop-down door to galleried upper area housing seven bottles with ground stoppers and paper content labels and the chemist's labels, the drawer beneath with two brass recessed handles ( either side ) and with compartments to house four bottles, a tray with handheld apothecary balance and weights and tortoiseshell-handled spatula and a lower section with further bottles, a measuring glass and a ceramic mortar and pestle, the 'verso' with drop-down door to galleried upper area housing five bottles with ground stoppers and paper content labels and chemist's labels ( one missing ) and similar drawer beneath, the case with brass recessed handle, brass 'petal' decoration to front door and two brass escutcheons and a key -- 21.5 x 23 x 11.3cm. (8½ x 9 x 4½in.)
