The first part was published in 1607 and 1609. A complete edition was reprinted in 1624. Andreini was the husband of the famous actress Isabella Canali and the renown leader of the 'Compagnia dei Comici Gelosi'. He achieved his fame with his interpretation of the Capitano (see Rasi I, 53-87). The work contains the dialogues between the Capitano and his servant Trappola, and is considered an important source for the history of the Commedia dell’Arte.
