ANDREW ROBERTSON (1777-1845) Mr and Mrs George Brooke; she, facing left in white dress, gold brooch at corsage and a pair of lorgnettes suspeneded from a long gold chain tucked into her black belt fastened with gold buckle; yellow stole draped across her lap, falling lace veil from her curling dark hair; seated in a red upholstered chair; pillar and landscape background; and he, facing left in blue coat with gold buttons, white waistcoat and cravat, seated in a red upholstered chair with a yellow rug across his lap, a walking cane in his gloved left hand signed with monogram and dated 'AR 1812' (upper left) and in full on the reverse 'Painted by A. Robertson 33 Gerrard street London 1812. and he, signed and dated in full on the reverse 'Painted by A. Robertson 33. Gerard street London 1812.' rectangular, 5 x 3.15/16 in.
