ANGLING--BOOKPLATES]. "Anglers Book-Plates" [spine title]. Group of approximately 190 bookplates (including some duplicates and variants) of predominantly angling subjects. V.p., v.d. [mostly early 1900s]. Various sizes, most inset on larger sheets (some proofs on large paper); all housed in cardboard folder and slipcase. Many of the plates are signed by the artist or the collector (several with accompanying letters or notes). Some of the highlights from the collection include: 3 states of President Calvin Coolidge's bookplate, INCLUDING ONE SIGNED BY COOLIDGE (in pencil, with accompanying TLS from Coolidge offering to sign the plate), each signed by the artist Timothy Cole; 2 original finished pencil drawings for two versions of bookplates for Frederick Coykendall provided by John & Edward Bumpus, Ltd.; John Lewis Childs' bookplate with watercolor of a brook trout; bookplate of Rev. H.S. Cotton, descendant of Charles Cotton; and a complimentary admission ticket, signed by C.E. Goodspeed, for an exhibition of Angling Book-Plates held by the Club of Odd Volumes in 1917.
