Antique Gold and Micromosaic Cuff Bangle The hinged bangle centering 2 circular micromosaic panels depicting a deer kneeling on varied shades of grass, embellished by a blue sky, the other panel portraying a crouched lamb holding a white flag with a red cross, seated on a red platform, amid a blue sky with gold stars, bordered by concentric circles of gold, spaced by rope-twist gold and gold circles, joined by a gold dome, topped by a stylized micromosaic fan motif depicting on opposite sides a leafy branch of bunches of grapes and a sheaf of wheat, centering a Papal symbol with a flower, all amid a white ground, completed by a continuous band of white micromosaics, embellished by a stylized multi-colored floral motif, bordered by rope-twist gold and gold bands, spaced by gold bars, flanked by domes tipped with small balls, with Papal maker's mark, minor micromosaic loss, one panel in back slightly damaged, approximately 47.6 dwt. Inner circle 6 1/8 inches. With fitted box. The two circular panels are set with symbolic depictions of Christianity and devotion to Christ. The kneeling deer, representing piety and devotion, faces towards a lamb holding a white flag with a red cross, symbolizing Agnus Dei, a representation of the triumph of Christ. The red cross symbolizes the blood shed by Christ, juxtaposed by the lamb, representing Christ's purity, holiness and absolute perfection.
One micromosaic is missing by the deer's foot. One micromosaic is missing at edge of the top white circle. Several tesserae are missing on left wheat sheaf. Several small tesserae are missing in back panels. Damage on back left panel. Center width 1 3/4". Bangle width 3/4".
