Apollo 11 Official NASA Released Apollo 11 Color Photograph Collection ALL WITH RED NASA IDENTIFICATION AND TEXT AT THE TOP OR SIDE BORDERS Collection of color photographs, all 8 by 10 inches and all having a watermark of “This Paper Manufactured by Kodak” on verso. All but three have blue NASA descriptive text on verso. All lunar surface photographs were taken by Neil Armstrong. The photographs are: 1) AS11-37-5458 – The lunar surface from inside the Lunar Module just after Man’s first lunar landing. Numerous small boulder can be seen in the distance. This surface has been virtually unchanged for billions of years until July 20, 1969. 2) AS11-40-5863 - Buzz Aldrin exits the forward hatch of Lunar Module Eagle as he begins his descent down the ladder. 3) AS11-40-5868 - Buzz Aldrin is at the last rung of the ladder just before his first step onto the lunar surface. 4) AS11-40-5903 - The iconic image of Buzz Aldrin standing on the Moon at Tranquility Base. 5) AS11-40-5865 - A close-up of the LM’s landing strut and footpad on the Commander’s side of the vehicle. The LM’s landing radar can be seen at the upper left. 6) AS11-40-5873 – Aldrin completes the deployment of the Solar Wind Experiment which gathered solar particles for the duration of the moonwalk. Most of the LM can be seen just behind Aldrin. 7) AS11-40-5931- Aldrin removes experiments from a storage bay on Eagle’s descent stage. Most of the LM is seen along with a close-up stereo surface camera in the foreground and the Solar Wind Experiment and TV camera in the background. Boot prints are clearly seen. 8) AS11-40-5964 – Aldrin hammers a core tube into the lunar surface in the area where the Solar Wind Experiment was deployed. 9) S69-40308 – An enlargement of a 16mm Maurer motion picture frame showing Armstrong and Aldrin deploying the United States flag. 10) S-69-21365 – Hornet + 3. The Apollo 11 crew talks to President Nixon while in the mobile quarantine trailer on the USS Hornet aircraft carrier. The Apollo 11 crew had just been recovered after a Pacific splashdown on July 24, 1969.
