Title: Archive of California mining maps and manuscripts, mostly from Placer County Author: ** Place: Placer County, CA Publisher: Date: Mostly 1880's Description: Comprises: Twelve total map plans, including: 6 hand-drawn (2 of which are hand-colored); 4 lithographed (3 of which are hand-colored and one with holographic additions); 1 photographic; and 1 watercolor map. Each rolled. * And, three hand-written groups of scrolls (with 13, 11 and 8 leaves), each gathered with two metal clasp pins, detailing work done from 1880 to 1888. Map plan titles include: Hand-drawn: Map of the Excelsior Mine, Placer Co., Cal., July 1880 (hand-colored); Deft’s Diagram on thin glossy linen showing mining claims of Crary & Co. and J.S. Sholl (including land in dispute); Map of Creek Hawk Eye and Wolverine Tunnels by Anthony Clark hand-drawn in pencil on orange paper – titled on verso in ink (split into two, dampstains, etc.); Plat of the Mooney Mine, Scale 20 ft = 1 inch, made by Wm. Roland and copied by A. Clark April 28, 1885 (with hand-coloring); Plat of Blair Drif Claime (with proposed tunnels); Plan of the Baltimore Co. Tunnel, Surveyed Oct. 16th, 1860 by Albert N. Dawson and traced from old maps by Anthony Clark March 16, 1901 (on thin glossy linen). Four lithos.: Plat of the Claim of Sara E. Reamer: upon the Uncle Sam Placer Mine, Forest Hill Mining District, Placer County…1893 (with holographic additions); Two copies of: Township No. 14 North. Range No. 10 East. Mount Diablo Meridian…[Mountain Tunnel Placer] 1879. (Both poor, moisture wear, soiling, large tears & pieces missing, etc.); Prospectus of the Mountain Tunnel Gravel Mining Co….1879, Mount Diablo. Others: Plat of Frank Hoffman Placer Mine…1874 (photographic); Map of the Cranage & Co. Mining Claims, Smiths Point, Placer County…1876 (watercolor).
