About 330 letters, documents, protocols, reports, photographs, leaflets and paper items recording the operations of the "Trust Fund for the Economic Development and Rehabilitation of Refugees". Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem and other places in Israel, first half of 1970s (several earlier or later items). Hebrew and some English. The Trust Fund for the Economic Development and Rehabilitation of Refugees was founded in 1970 following a government resolution and a suggestion by Shimon Peres (at the time serving as the minister in charge of economic development of the occupied territories). The trust's purpose was "to act and assist with all that regards the development and progress of the population in the occupied territories and assist the refugees with housing, education, culture, health and economy". Towards the mid-1970s, for lack of financial resources and the change in public atmosphere, the fund ceased to exist. This archive belonged, presumably, to one of the board members of this fund. The archive includes: * a copy of the fund's "founding bill" (not signed), mimeographed, detailing the aims of the fund, its operations and authorities. * Five mimeographed reports detailing the state of five refugee camps prior to the fund's activity: El-Amari, Ein Beit Ilma, Tul Karem, Nur Shams and Jenin, with information about the population, housing, sanitation, family heads, and more. * Dozens of letters, handwritten and typewritten from the fund director Micha Lindenstrauss who was the assistant of Minister Shimon Peres for matters of the territories. Some are written on official letterhead of the fund and others on stationery of Peres's chamber. * Dozens of documents and letters on behalf of Bank Leumi LeIsrael Ltd., recording the involvement of the bank in the operation of the fund, sources of financing, kinds of investments and other subjects. * Seven photographs of projects carried out by the fund in various refugee camps: building a playground, installing street lights, digging drainage canals and more. Printed notes with name of the camp and the project are pasted to the front, and on the appear ink-stamps of the photographer Ran Erde. * Protocols of meetings of the fund directors, dozens of outlines and plans for sources of financing and investment, researches ordered from various institutes (including the Weizmann Institute and the Hebrew University), promotional leaflets distributed by the fund, and more. The items are filed in two binders and classified and divided by paper separators with handwritten titles: "The West Bank", "Gaza", "Peres File" and more. Size and condition vary. Good overall condition. Filing holes. Stains, creases and slight damage to some items. A number of items are stuck together. On some items appear handwritten filing instructions.
