Title: Archive of photographs, news clippings, letters and ephemera relating to the life of Jim Barnes Author: ** Place: Publisher: Date: 1900-1920s Description: Includes: Scrapbook of approximately 60 pages of news clippings, many laid in of Barnes' golf career beginning circa 1916. * Album of approximately 101 black and white sepia snapshots from approximately 7.5x10 cm. (3x4") and larger. Documenting the Jim Barnes in his youth and his family, while growing up and playing golf. Photographs as a child, with family, with friends, and some press photographs circa 1900-1920s. * Album of 27 later photographs of various sizes, mostly of the British Open Years, around 1922. Includes some press photographs from 1925. A wonderful series of 12.5x18 cm. (5x7") photographs showing him displaying the British Open trophy on board ship and hitting golf balls on ship with Chick Evans. Group shots of Barnes and Walter Hagen and others, Willie Hunter, Johnny Farrell, Jock Hutchison, etc. Also includes 25 congratulatory telegrams from stateside and British friends after winning the British Open including George C. Thomas, John Ross and others. One from Jones, but we cannot verify it to be Bobby Jones * Album with approximately 16 Cunard Line passenger lists and menus, some signed by fellow passenger friends. 2 are specifically signed by Jim Barnes as well as others, also includes a few pieces of ephemera. Jim Barnes (1886-1966) was the winner of the 1921 U.S. Open and the 1925 British Open and a host of PGA Tour titles. Lot Amendments Condition: All are in uniformly nice condition, housed in 3 ring binders. Item number: 214356
