ARIOSTI, Alexander de (d.1484?). Tractatus contractuum editus a fratre Alexandro de ariostis de feraria ordis minorum . MANUSCRIPT ON VELLUM. [Italy, Bologna?, third quarter of the 15th century]. 138 x 96mm, 100 leaves, including the final blank, COMPLETE, collation: 1-10 1 0 , 33 lines, justification: 89 x 58mm, written in dark brown ink in a very small rather archaic Bolognese gothic bookhand, headings in red, paragraph marks in red and blue, a few contemporary marginal annotations. 18th-century sheep, black morocco back on four raised bands. PROVENANCE: Presented to the fratres of Cherubini de Sancta Agatha, in memory of their abbot who died 23 August 1749. Inscribed on f.99 TEXT: This canon law manuscript deals entirely with economic questions, such as money, payments, exchange, usury. One chapter is headed 'De Societate'. The text appears not to have been printed, although another work by this author Tractatus Usurarum was published in Bologna in 1486.
