Engraved title and 46 full-page illustrations after Girolamo Porro (lacks all after Oo3, title from a smaller copy, C5, G1, H3, I4, L5. N5, R6, Z5 and Aa5 all inlaid, lower margins of quire Bb crudely repaired, tear in L4, some side-notes shaved, discolouration and staining). Contemporary sprinkled calf (rebacked, spine and corners worn, upper cover detached). Provenance : From the Library of John Jackson (1793-1875) of Academy Place, Warrington (bookplate). STC 748. LUCANUS, Marcus Annaeus. Pharsalia. Translated into English Verse by Nicholas Rowe . London: for J. Tonson, 1718. 2° (388 x 238mm). Engraved frontispiece, folding map, title-vignette, 10 headpieces and initials and 9 tailpieces, list of subscribers (a little browned throughout, some spotting). 20th-century red half roan (a little rubbed).
