Misure cm: 53 x 26 Arte Cinese Grande e rara scultura in bronzo laccato e dorato raffigurante Ratnasambhava Cina, tarda dinastia Ming, XVI - XVII secolo . -. Cm 26,00 x 53,00 x 17,00. Grande fusione in bronzo raffigurante il buddha cosmico Ratnasambhava, qui ritratto seduto in padmasana su una base a fiore di loto con tre ordini di petali sovrapposti. Un perno sotto la base la alloggia dentro un supporto esagonale in bronzo raffigurante il fiore di loto che emerge dai flutti. La figura è abbigliata con una veste monacale dai profili cesellati a motivo floreale che lascia scoperto il petto inciso con una svastica. La mano destra nella posizione bhumisparsamudra, la mano sinistra in avakasamudra; il volto sereno con occhi e bocca colorati. Il presente lotto è parte integrante di un set incompleto raffigurante i cinque Buddha trascendenti. In questo catalogo sono proposti altri due pezzi della stessa serie: Akshobhya al lotto n. 147 e Amitabha al lotto n. 145. Le fusioni in bronzo laccato e dorato si diffusero largamente in Cina durante tutto il XVI secolo. Esemplari di grandi dimensioni, come quelli qui presentati, sono tuttavia piuttosto rari e destinati a committenze rilevanti. Inoltre, data la fragilità della laccatura su bronzo, è altresì raro trovare degli esemplari che abbiano mantenuto quasi integro il rivestimento di finitura. Rara anche la completezza dei soggetti con la loro base rialzata originale, in questo caso ancora adornata di foglie di loto sporgenti. Provenienza: parte di una collezione privata Nord Italia da almeno 60 anni. Chinese Art A rare, massive, gilt lacquered bronze statue of the symbolic tantric Buddha Ratnasambhava China, late Ming dynasty, 16th - 17th century . . Cm 26,00 x 53,00 x 17,00. Big bronze cast depicting the Cosmic Buddha Ratnasambhava, portrayed while sitting in the padmasana position on a lotus flower base with three layers of petals. A pivot beneath the base allows it to be placed on a hexagonal bronze base depicting the stem of the flower emerging from the waves. The figure wears a monastic robe with trimmings chiseled with flower motifs leaving bare the chest engraved with a swastika. His right hand performs the bhumisparsamudra gesture, the left in avakasamudra; the face is serene and the eyes and the mouth are painted. This lot is part of an incomplete set portraying the five transcendent Buddhas. In this catalogue are also available two more pieces from the same set: Akshobhya lot nr. 147 and Amitabha lot nr. 145. This type of lacquered and gilded bronze casts were widely popular in China during the XVI century, nonetheless, items of considerable dimensions such as the ones on offer are quite rare and were commissioned by important clients. Also quite rare are items which still present an almost intact finishing décor, considering the frailty of the lacquer on bronze, and the presence of the original raised base. Provenance: the item has been part of a private collection from Northern Italy for at least the last 60 years.
