Artist Letters A good group of 3 autograph letters and two manuscripts signed by Rembrandt Peale William Wordsworth George Catlin Albert Bierstadt and "Grandma" Moses, as follows: Rembrandt Peale autograph letter signed, 4 pages (12 1/8 x 8 in.; 310 x 203 mm), Boston, 13 April 1828, to Charles F. Mayer; lightly browned, crude repair to horizontal fold tears, marginal chipping. Peale writes to an attorney in Baltimore regarding his involvement with the Gas Light Company of that city in 1815, and presents a claim for salary due. — William Wordsworth autograph manuscript poem, signed ("Wm Wordsworth"), 1 page (5 x 7 3/8 in.; 126 x 187 mm), Rydal, 4 October 1844, being his poem entitled "To a Child"; some light soiling, mounted on a slightly larger sheet. — George Catlin autograph letter, signed ("Geo Catlin"), 1 page (6 3/4 x 5 1/8 in.; 171 x 130 mm), [no place], Thursday morning [but no date], to an unnamed addressee regarding a meeting; inlaid in a pale blue paper border and tipped to another sheet, repair to right and left margins of horizontal fold. Autograph letters by Catlin are rare. — Albert Bierstadt autograph manuscript signed, 4 pages (7 3/4 x 5 in.; 197 x 127 mm), 26 May 1899, entitled "Rosa Bonheur," being a tribute to the artist upon her passing, with pencil emendations in another hand; rust stain from paper clip at top left corner. "As a great meteor that flashes through the sky arrests our attention and causes us to reflect, so does the great artist who today has gone to her rest .." — Anna Mary Robertson ("Grandma") Moses, autograph letter signed ("Grandma Moses"), 4 pages (5 x 4 in.; 125 x 203 mm), on stationery with two red roses tied with a bow in left margin of first page, E[a]glebridge, NY, 12 July 1948, to a friend regarding her painting; matted, double-glazed and framed with an image of her painting Sugaring Off. "I have painted a good many paintings since last winter, and now just finished eight small winter sceans [sic] for the next exhibition in Stockbridge ..."
