Printed in Ptolemy type in black, 3-line initial capitals at the start of each chapter and the larger initial capitals and the opening line of each book all designed by Graily Hewitt and all printed in red, marginal chapter summaries also in red in Blado Italic type, printer's mark D in black. Folio, original white pigskin, spine lettered in gilt, uncut, spine slightly darkened, minor staining to covers; book dealer's label on lower pastedown. LIMITED EDITION, one of 260 copies on paper of an edition of 280. Hornby XXXVII ("In February 1931 a Notice was sent out to subscribers announcing the forthcoming issue of 'Thucydides' and in it was foreshadowed the closing down of the Press.").
