* Attributed to George Hilditch (British, 1803-1857) Richmond Hill oil on canvas 12 x 16 3/4 inches. Estimate $ 800-1,200 Property from the Estate of John F. Norwood, St. Louis, Missouri Bearing several labels verso: one an artist biography, from Daniel Rees, Jackson, MI; another a label fragment on stretcher with typed artist name, title and inventory number; the third another artist biography. Canvas appears to be lined. Under ultra violet light, there is very little restoration appearing as few scattered spots of inpainting within the fore ground: in the treeline on the left behind the figures, and within the tree on the right. Otherwise, the painting appears to be in very nice, stable condition, with light craquelure in the upper right portion of the sky. Shows very well in natural light.
