Attributed to Henry Thomas Alken, Sr. (1785-1851 British) Print Two works: ''The Manchester & London Coach'' and ''The Brighton-London Coach'', 19th Century English coaches loaded with passengers and luggage, each: oil on canvas laid to canvas, each: 18'' H x 25'' W, Provenance: The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens, San Marino, CA. Condition: Visual: Each: Generally good condition. Varnish discoloration throughout. The first with areas of flaking, instability and paint loss scattered along the left edge. The second with areas of fine craquelure scattered throughout.Blacklight: The first: Apparent older restoration along the entire left side, upper right, lower left and a small spot in the center. A dime-sized spot of newer touch-up in the center. Difficult to read under varnish. The second: Apparently no restoration under blacklight. Difficult to read under varnish.
