Attributed to Youqua, China Trade oil on canvas of the anchorage at Cumsingmum, with two figures beside a crenelated wall with a river and ships in the background, 18" x 23 1/2". The wall was built in 1837 to deter Westerners involved with the opium trade. This unusual view is identical to another in the Sze Yuan Tang collection. Condition:Period frame with minor gesso losses. Relined. Minor touch-up along edges. Thin wash over sky to reduce craquelure. Provenance: The Collection of Captain Hall Jackson Tibbits (1797-1872), Long Island, NY.
